Some New York Photos are up

I just got back an hour ago, and I’m pretty pooped. I quickly uploaded some of the shots I took to my flickr page, so take a look there. I plan to do a detailed write-up at some point. ...

The Big Apple

Well, I made it. I’m sitting in the hostel near central park, trying to upload a few photos to flickr using this crazy setup they have here.. I got a few there, although the quality sucks. Lots of delays yesterday leaving Vancouver. Apparently our plane was busted, so they were frantically trying to replace some parts on it so we could take off – not a very good start to a trip, especially for someone that doesn’t like flying. We landed at JFK about 1.5 hours late. Thankfully I met a nice lady on the plane who offered to pay for my cab down to times square (she could expense it she said). ...

New York Bound

Well, I finally managed to convince everyone at work that it was time for me to take a vacation and get rested up. It’s been a long year, and I’m definitely a bit burnt out and cranky lately. The last vacation I took was last summer, and I wasted all two weeks of it working 12 hour days on my thesis. Come to think of it, the last *real* vacation I had was probably camping down the Oregon coast for a week a few years ago. So, I made a conscious decision this morning to make the most of this vacation. Dustin and I spent some time yesterday walking around and checking out the travel deals. I ...

London

I may have the opportunity to go to London, UK for a week at the beginning of July. Originally I was going to take a week of holidays next week and go camping in the rockies, but in light of this recent opportunity, I’ve been thinking of postponing my vacation, and using it up in Europe. I have never been to Europe, so I think it would be pretty cool to have a week there.. The question is, what should I do with a week off in Europe, knowing that I’ll be starting in London? I’d like to fly to Paris, and then maybe explore a bit by train. Does anyone have any suggestions? ...

Home at last

Well, after nearly three weeks, I’m finally back home.. I left April 14th for Tokyo, Japan, bounced through Vancouver on April 24th, landed in San Francisco on April 25th, and finally arrived in Vancouver late last night.. Man am I tired.. But wow, what an amazing trip. I have never been off the continent before, and it was really amazing going to a completely different place, both geographically and culturally. Thankfully, I don’t have any trips planned, since I’m completely exhausted.. But who knows, in another month or two maybe it will be time to fly again. As you might have noticed, ...
