I woke up this morning and had a few people email me saying that there were a bunch of duplicate entries in my RSS feed. I really have no idea why, but since I installed WordPress 2.7 RC1 last night, I suspect that it’s related to that. I might spend a bit of time trying to figure out why. More likely is that I do nothing though and simply let it work itself out naturally. I’ll scan the WordPress forums in a few minutes and see if anyone else is having this issue, otherwise I’ll spend a bit of time debugging.
Thanks to everyone who emailed me to let me know that my website sucked. Much appreciated. ...
For the past few months, I really haven’t been sleeping that well. Typically that means I sleep in a little later than normal, and am always pushing it getting to work on time. On a lot of days that usually means I end up taking a cab to work. So over the last few months, I’ve gotten to understand a lot of what makes a good cab driver in Vancouver. Here’s a brief list of five must-have things that most Vancouver cab drivers have:
First, you have to have a vehicle that failed some inspection at some point in the last year. Probably not a big enough failure to warrant pulling it off the road, ...
Raul *finally* moved off of WordPress.com, and has a shiny new self-hosted one up at HummingBird604.com. Make sure you swing on by and take a look. ...
I had some of the weirdest dreams that I can remember in a long time last night. I went to bed at 10:30pm last night because I was so bagged, so maybe that has something to do with it.
I dreamt that I had to fly out to Timmins, Ontario this morning because I had to be in court. Some guy from high school was suing me for something and (despite both living here) the court date somehow ended up in Timmins. I bought a new suit for the event, but unfortunately I left it on the floor of the hotel room and showed up in court in my jeans. Some of my friends were flying out as character witnesses, but ...
This is one of the most tragic things I’ve read in a very long time. Shoppers at a WalMart were so eager to get through the doors for today’s sale that they literally stomped one of the workers there to death. Even while he was down, people still trampled past him, with nobody stopping to help him up or make sure he was ok. Another worker also hit the ground, as did a pregnant lady.
I really have to question what type of world we live in where something like that can happen. It’s one thing at a music concert when something like that happens due to a surge in the crowd (which still isn’t ...
** I wrote this article last year on another site, but given recent events I wanted to repost it on my site. I’ll talk about it more in a future entry **
I came across this article the other day, and found it particularly distressing given the prevalence of online social websites such as Facebook and MySpace these days:
Megan Meier thought she had made a new friend in cyberspace when a cute teenage boy named Josh contacted her on MySpace and began exchanging messages with her.
Megan, a 13-year-old who suffered from depression and attention deficit disorder, corresponded with Josh for more than ...
Rebecca has come up with a pretty cool idea with regards to web awards locally. She’s set up BestOf604.com where people can currently nominate websites for various categories. Afterwards people will be able to vote on who they think deserves to win. Sometime in the near future there will be an awards ceremony.
Make sure your head on over and check it out. ...
A few weeks ago I went into the doctor’s office to get a pile of tests done on myself. For those of you that remember, last year I came down with a clostridium difficile infection, which is a superbug that typically only affects people who end up in hospitals on broad spectrum antibiotics. When I was in the hospital last year with pneumonia, I ended up getting it, and it was a very nasty experience that took three rounds of antibiotics to get rid of.
That being said, my stomach has never really been the same, and I frequently have an upset stomach or cramps still. Since C. Diff. has about a ...
Hahaha. Oh man, I laughed when I saw this. Some guy assaulted a police officer. While in the back of the police car he thought it would be a good idea to start singing Spider Pig. Didn’t turn out so well. ...
If you’re on Twitter, and want to follow updates for WordCamp Whister, feel free to follow the official Twitter account here. We’re just waiting for confirmation from the venue, and then we’ll step on the gas and put the stick-shift into high gear. ...
If you’re a hockey fan, you gotta check out this photo. Apparently they brought the Stanley Cup by where my friend John was working, and he got a photo of it. Pretty cool. ...
Here’s another shot from last night.
I actually like this one more than the other one for some reason. But I’m weird like that. The photos of mine that actually get lots of comments on Flickr are usually not the ones I thought were best from that set. ...
Here’s a recent form letter I got from Lingo:

Strange night, yes indeed. I met a few work people for some drinks down at Hapa Izakaya on Robson. I went with the intention of not only abstaining from eating crappy, unhealthy food, but also for drinking booze. I did fairly well on both fronts, and basically shadowed everyone around all night. We ended up at the Morrisey in Vancouver, and just chilled out there for a while.
Near the end of the night, when most people from work had left, my friend Derek and I were just chilling out and thinking about calling it a night. At that time, this girl named Mel (from New Zealand) asked if she could sit ...
Tracy tagged me in a blog post, so I thought I’d better step up and deliver. So without further ado, here are six things you probably don’t know about me (and most likely, didn’t want to know about me).
1) I have a queen sized bed, but only own one pillow. It makes sleeping strange.
2) I drink way too much diet pepsi, and usually have an empty bottle somewhere in every room
3) I typically buy the same thing whenever I’m at the store. That explains why I have four jars of salsa in my fridge, three tubs of vitamin E cream in my bathroom, and a freezer full of ground beef.
4) I type over ...
And a flight attendant had to help land the plane. Crazy. Glad everyone was ok. It’s strange that one person can’t land a plane by themselves. I would have thought they could have. ...
