I've Got The RSS Feed Blues

Last modified on December 2nd, 2008

I woke up this morning and had a few people email me saying that there were a bunch of duplicate entries in my RSS feed. I really have no idea why, but since I installed WordPress 2.7 RC1 last night, I suspect that it’s related to that. I might spend a bit of time trying to figure out why. More likely is that I do nothing though and simply let it work itself out naturally. I’ll scan the WordPress forums in a few minutes and see if anyone else is having this issue, otherwise I’ll spend a bit of time debugging.

Thanks to everyone who emailed me to let me know that my website sucked. Much appreciated.

I was like.. woah.. something broke! I just marked them all as ‘read’ and continued on. I figured other people would have emailed you, or you noticed it did it too.

If it helps with the debugging, the two posts that have been replicated many times in my feed reader, do not show up on your blog or in Firefox’s and IE’s feed readers(I am using Google Reader). These posts that are “The Importance of Dynamic Content” and “Safari Single Window Mode”. My guess is that these are draft/unpublished posts, and that 2.7RC1 is leaking them somehow?

Oddly enough, this post hasn’t shown up in your RSS feed yet (on feedburner)… I saw your twitter.

    Anyway, hope this helps,

That actually does help. Those posts are actually over on BraveNewCode, and I’ve been combining them using Yahoo Pipes. That basically means something is wrong with the Pipe after updating.

I’ve made a few changes for now and I think it should be ok. Thanks.

This may or may not be related…

I use Google Reader. If I try to click on one of your blog entry titles from there, it tries to load the page and then I get a page load error:

    “Redirect Loop
Redirection limit for this URL exceeded. Unable to load the requested page. This may be caused by cookies that are blocked.”

    (I’m not blocking any cookies.)

    Cookie Blocker!

Awww, your site doesn’t suck. It was just kinda surprising when I open up Google Reader to see 30+ of the same post.

@Kelly: I got the same thing, although I chalked it up to FeedReader. When I refreshed the page it worked fine.

Aren’t those two posts on BraveNewCode dude?

  8. Duane Storey says:

Yah, they were on BraveNewCode, and being pulled into my feed by Yahoo Pipes.. So BNC might be the root cause somehow. Not sure at this point.
