The Great June Adventure

This last weekend was a big eye-opener for me — quite simply, I don’t take enough time in my life these days to go out and have fun. Sure, I attend the odd function and hang out with cool people, but really, I need to get out of the city from time to time and recharge the batteries. And quite honestly, it’s about time I put the chips back out on the table and hit the dating scene again (I’m reminded of a girl at a bar last year who told me the reason I didn’t have a girlfriend was because, in her words, I simply wasn’t very exciting). I’ll show her!

San Francisco, California, from my plane last trip

To be honest, June is probably going to be one of the best month’s I’ve had in years. I’ve lost count of all the things I have going on, but here’s a sample:

  • Camping at Cultus Lake
  • Three day coding party in San Francisco either at Google or Cisco
  • Day of debachery in Los Angeles, most likely on a beachfront patio with Tony and a cute girl or four
  • Disneyland with my sister, brother-in-law and the kids
  • I fly back to Vancouver from LA, just in time to have a beer with Dale Mugford at the airport, who will be flying in for a few days from Ontario
  • I start two weeks of vacation at this point, no idea what I’m going to do
  • I’ll be attending Matthew Good’s show in Vancouver, the first time he’ll be with a full band since releasing Hospital Music
  • I’ll probably go on some crazy road trip during my vacation, maybe to Banff or who knows

Considering June is just around the corner, I’m obviously totally excited.

Ah, how appropriate you chose gambling as a metaphor for dating… I’m struggling with putting my chips on the table right now simply due to the fact that it is, of course, all a gamble with the risk of loss … then again, I guess there’s always the chance of winning big, right? ;)

Sounds marvelous and very much about time!!! Way to go Duane….and tell that girl your sister has a few choice words to say to her….not exciting -well she doesn’t know what exciting is.
But for now….hit the streets and enjoy….life is all what we make it.
My favourite quote: Life is measured by the moments that take your breath away!!!

What?! You were at a bar and a chick told you that you weren’t very exciting? Ouch dude. That’s a bar I’d recommend you not go back to. Bad women in there. Anyways, she just didn’t speak Geek. You gotta meet your own kind. Better times.
