So Dale and I put some of the finishing touches on our WPtouch iPhone/iPodTouch theme tonight. It’s looking pretty spiffy if I do so say myself. I’ve enabled it on this website, and it’s running smoothly. We’ll be working out a few kinks over the next few days, but you can stroll around here if you have an iPhone and check it out. A few of the features I really like:
- AJAX transitions between page groups (in a search engine friendly way)
- Custom adminstration panel in Wordpress where you can create a custom theme menu
- Blogroll with favicon integration
- Color coded calendar icons that change according to the time of year
- Built in bookmarking ability for major bookmark sites such as del.icio.us, digg, etc.
Here’s a quick look at the administration panel for the theme:
I also just finished doing a Blip.TV plugin that will automatically show iPhone specific videos when viewed on the iPhone, or will show the appropriate EMBED version when viewed from my main site. I think this feature is really awesome for video-rich sites. It also uses the new Wordpress 2.5 short-code system, which is rather cool.
Dale and I will probably release both the iPhone theme and the Blip.TV plugin in a few days. Drop a comment if you’re interested in being one of the first people to try it out.
