I install WordPress locally and measure quickness. Score on my P4 2.6Ghz was 3.44 request in second. After enabling MySQL cache and APC install I got 8.56 request per second. Gain was about 150% but I believe that Wp-cache will give even more.</description>

Or, try my super VIPER CACHE!  Which should speed things up for you (it's what I use).</description>
